From the most remote place of Atlantic Ocean, on the most wild mountains of São Miguel island, a rock act called Buried by Lava was born. The band was formed in 2017 in Nordeste by ex members of the band Fake Society. They cycled through a variety of musical approach before establishing themselves as Buried by Lava. The first single entitled Inertia was released in 17 of May of 2020 and the first EP entitled Blind Truth was released in 28 of May of 2020.
Lava Fest is an underground music festival that defies mainstream conventions, celebrating the raw energy of rock and metal in the remote and scenic setting of Nordeste, São Miguel, Azores. Founded by the local band “Buried by Lava” in 2023, the festival was born from a desire to create a unique musical experience in an ultra-peripheral region often overlooked by larger music events.
Lava Fest stands out as one of the few metal festivals in the Azores, attracting rock and metal enthusiasts, local communities, and adventurous music lovers who seek an authentic and intimate festival atmosphere. Set against the backdrop of a rugged, volcanic landscape, the festival captures the spirit of its origins—rising from the ashes of challenges faced by its founders, embracing reinvention, and pushing boundaries.
